After your stitchery is framed, the frame can be embellished with ribbons, bows, ruffles, laces, cords and other trims. The cream-colored frames take on the color of the ruffles and ribbons decorating them.

The frames can also be painted with acrylic paint. For color accents, a thin line of color can be painted in the grooves of the frame with a roll-on paint tube.

DECORATING THE HOOP-FRAME:

To make a ruffle for the 8"x10" Hoop-Frame, cut a 4" wide strip of fabric 2 1/2 yards long (you can piece shorter sections). Fold it in half lengthwise and press. Place eyelet or lace on top of the strip.

Along the length of the cut edges, stitch two rows of running stitches. Pull both threads at the same time to gather the ruffle.

One inch from the end, start hot-gluing the ruffle to the back of the bottom center of the frame. Continue gluing the ruffle around the frame, give extra ruffle to the corners. Overlap and glue the ends together to finish the ruffle.

Use tacky glue to attach cording or ribbons to the front of the frame for a nice smooth finish. (Hot glue could leave lumps.)
